HOMELESS MINISTRY AND PROGRAMS

Homelessness Outreach

There is an ever-increasing need in our cities to address both the causes and realities of homelessness. Homelessness affects not only individual adults, but also many teens and children.

The Way Out Ministries seeks to serve those experiencing homelessness through compassionate outreach, practical support, and Christ-centered care through the programs and services listed below.

Grace Stop

Grace Stop is a weekly meal and Bible study held at T.W.O.M for those experiencing homelessness. This ministry originally operated independently in a park in Lakewood until city officials forced the group to relocate. In 2015, The Way Out Ministries adopted and expanded the ministry.

Guests are welcomed into a safe and caring environment where they can enjoy a hot meal, showers, Bible study, and clean clothing. Hygiene kits, blankets, and emergency food supplies are also available. Individual meetings may be scheduled with county social workers and mental health professionals who provide support, assessments, and referrals for ongoing care and assistance.

Grace Stop meets every Tuesday from 9:30–10:30 a.m.

Terry Turner Resource Center

The Terry Turner Resource Center provides a safe and supportive space for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Through dedicated volunteers and social workers, T.W.O.M assists guests with:

  • Medical and mental health referrals
  • Job placement assistance
  • Rehabilitation referrals
  • Counseling and mentorship
  • Legal guidance and direction
  • Housing referrals and support services

Computers are also available for job applications, online forms, and other important needs. The center additionally maintains a clothing and food pantry to help meet emergency needs.

Volunteering

We are grateful for volunteers who are willing to serve those experiencing homelessness with compassion and dignity. Volunteers may assist by sorting clothing, stocking the food pantry, serving meals, organizing supplies, or helping wherever needed.
