Chapel By The Beach

Easter week was blessed by a personal visit from our friend Pastor Rowell and his family from Calvary Chapel  Montalban, Rizal, Philippines in San Mateo.  Pastor  Rowell has been such a blessing to our church through his weekly Sunday teachings via Live Stream to Chapel By The Beach and through several evangelistic outreaches.  This past Easter week, his visit included both Holy week   services at our church and at The Way Out Ministries    Philippines as well as outreach to people in San Jose— both on Aroma Beach and the outlaying farmlands where  food was distributed and the gospel was shared through worship and the word.

April 28 marked the 10 year anniversary of what is now called Chapel By The Beach.  The little church has struggled through three pastors in that time and was almost wiped out altogether in the pandemic, but its congregation has held on in faith.  The Way Out Ministries Philippines (TWOP) acquired the property    and then adopted the church last year after their pastor announced that he was leaving prior to Holy Week. TWOP quickly rescued the church by renovating the open air structure to make it suitable for video services while we searched for a pastor. Our newly hired Director of  Facilities, Mark Salcedo, organized a building crew and within weeks presented a fully functional and enclosed     building to the congregation— complete with equipment and air conditioning.  Meanwhile, our newly hired Director of Outreach, Divine Canapit, organized children and   volunteers to put together a Holy Week program.  In the United States, The Way Out Ministries International helped by pre-taping worship services translated  in Tagalog. Palm Sunday at Chapel By The Beach was a great success!  Sister Divine opened the service in prayer and the children presented a dance with palms.  The congregation participated with a video of worship and the message followed.  Good Friday and Easter Sunday were also successful services— the children, once again, presented in song and dance.  From that time forward Chapel By The Beach has continued as a Live Stream church with Pastor Rowell,  but we are looking and   praying for a permanent pastor who will lead this church with the love and care of a good shepherd.  Please pray with The Way Out Ministries Philippines, our U.S. friends and the congregation for this long awaited blessing.

First US Mission Team

Pastor Barry (CEO of The Way Out Ministries International)  will be bringing our first U.S. Mission team to San Jose —October 8-17.  The 13 member team will be sharing the gospel through drama,  music, testimony, preaching and food distribution in five locations.  The team will also be building game equipment and bringing supplies to TWOP.  This will be the first of many mission teams to come through The Way Out Ministries International to its ministry in the Philippines.  Please pray for them!

 Comfort Rooms

After a long hot spell of weather, we are building once again at TWOP! Mark and his team have begun digging the septic tank for two new bathrooms (comfort rooms) that will be built at Chapel By The Beach. This is a project that we have wanted to do for a long time.  Half of the money has been raised for the project, but you can still join us in reaching our goal of $5,000.00 U.S. dollars.  The project should be finished just in time for our first U.S. mission team’s visit in October! They will be very happy about the added “comfort” and so will our congregation and their visitors! Can you help us?

Mothers & Fathers

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day were celebrated with special services that were organized by Sister Divine and our children and volunteers.  Hand made cards, special gifts, prayer and song was followed by lots of good food and picture taking.  We thought we would share a few with you.
