The Rev. Barry and Terryl Bruce have been active in God's service since their marriage in 1982, when they began their adventures with Youth With A Mission's (YWAM) mercy ship ministries on board the M/V Anastasis. They were called by God to return to the United States and begin an inner-city ministry while they were at a Christian rally in New Zealand.

Upon the Bruce's return to the U.S., they began reaching out to the city of Hawaiian Gardens and soon founded The Way Out Ministries, a non-Profit, Christ-centered ministry dedicated to reaching the needs of people in the inner-city. In 1984 the Bruce's incorporated that ministry and later partnered with the Reformed Church in America (RCA) and became a mission affiliate with them.
Rev. Bruce was ordained by the Evangelical Church Alliance (ECA) in 1987. Terryl Bruce graduated from Cal State University of Long Beach in 1997 with a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work. She has recently completed her Masters of Education, and graduated in November of 2008. The Bruce's currently live in Hawaiian Gardens and are blessed with three children: Ryan, Rachel and Michelle.
